In 2022 the International Olympic Committee recognized the ‘Brussels Olympic Research and Education Centre’ (BOREC) as Olympic Studies and Research Centre. BOREC joins the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committee (BOIC) with the aim to contribute to the education, research and support provision related to the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement. BOREC is part of the worldwide network of more than 50 Olympic Studies and Research Centres.

On 4th of October 2023 BOREC provided its expertise and support of its international network of experts in setting up a one-day conference and workshops during the Safe Sport Symposium organized during the World Championships Artistic Gymnastics in Antwerpen.
